PIBA's First Community Project: Cleaning and Restoration of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument
The Princeton Independent Business Alliance (PIBA) celebrates Independents’ Week by announcing their first Community Project: the cleaning and restoration of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument.
PIBA feels that one of the responsibilities of owning an independent business is to give back to the community.
The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument has been a Princeton landmark since its dedication in 1913.
“It only makes sense to help preserve this historic landmark so that it will last as long as a lot of businesses in Princeton,” said PIBA President Lisa Putness, owner of Kirby Henning Pharmacy.
“Like with most businesses,” Putness continued, “you need to maintain the structure and keep them in good shape, much like what is needed with the Monument.”
PIBA will contribute 10% of the sales of Princeton branded merchandise to go towards the restoration work. The group will also accept donations from businesses, groups, and individuals.
The Nation-wide celebration of Independents’ Week takes place July 1-7. PIBA, along with several other Independent Business Alliances throughout the United States, celebrates the spirit of the Independent, small business and the cities that they are located in.
Princeton has enjoyed a long history of independent businesses and some of those businesses felt that forming PIBA would only enhance the independent business environment.
